Koalas in many cases are often called bears, but this can be a misnomer. Although their scientific genus, Phascolarctos, translates as "pouched bear", koalas usually are not users on the bear, or Ursidae family members.13 Koalas are actually more carefully related to kangaroos, bandicoots and possums than accurate bears.
